Dr. Olson is the Co-Director (with Leslie Hammer) of the Oregon Healthy Workforce Center - one of ten Centers of Excellence in Total Worker Health® funded by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). His research has focused on safety, health, and well-being interventions for isolated or “lone” workers, and on behavioral methods to support transfer of training with leaders. He has collaborated with Dr. Hammer on many projects, including the development and evaluation of supportive supervisor training within the historic Work, Family, and Health Network study. Dr. Olson leads an internationally recognized safety and health intervention research program with commercial drivers funded by NHLBI, and is the past Co-Director of the state of Oregon’s occupational health surveillance program funded by CDC/NIOSH. His interventions have improved a range of outcomes for workers, including safety, diet, exercise, sleep, stress, and job satisfaction.
